Preparing a 3D Print with Netfabb

Check List:

  1. Open Autodesk Netfabb.
  2. Part --> Add Part --> OBJ or STL model.
  3. Press Add Parts.
  4. Scale Object if necessary.
  5. Press Repair Icon.
  6. Press Automatic Repair.
  7. Select Default Repair.
  8. Press Execute.
  9. Press Apply Repair.
  10. Press Remove Old Part.
  11. Part --> Export Part --> as STL (ASCII).

Initial Startup:

  1. Turn ON computer.
  2. Open Autodesk Netfabb software.

File Setup – Import 3D Model:

  1. Go to Part --> Add --> navigate to 3D model location à Open.
  • Model should be an STL or OBJ format.

File Setup – Scale and Repair Model:

  1. Left click to select your object on screen.

  1. Press the Scale Button.
    1. Indicated by a sphere with an arrow going up and an arrow going right.
  2. Change scale if needed under Target Size X, Y, and Z. Press Scale.

File Setup – Scale and Repair Model-2:

  1. If a repair is needed there will be a triangle with an exclamation mark on your screen.

  1. Press Red Cross Repair button.

  1. Any errors will be visible with yellow or orange lines and red planes.
    1. Yellow lines will show that there is a hole.
    2. Orange lines will show when faces are not connected.
    3. Red planes will show when faces are inverted.

  1. Press Automatic Repair and Execute.

  1. Press Apply Repair and Remove Old Part.

File Setup –Export Part:

  1. Left click to select your part.
  2. Press Part --> Export Part --> as STL (ASCII).
  3. Then Save your file to your flash drive or on the Shared Drive.
  4. Save your Netfabb file as well in the event that changes to scale or fixing errors need to be redone.
