The Women’s Business Association collaborated with Alpha Kappa Psi and the Business Placement Center to bring its inaugural business fashion show to Southern Illinois University’s College of Business on Sept. 13. The fashion show, titled “Falling into the Business World,” was a unique and effective approach to informing students of the differences in business casual and professional dress.
Southern Illinois University’s business programs are highly ranked and respected by industry leaders. The Pontikes Center for Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in the College of Business further solidifies that reputation. The goal of the center is to combine artificial intelligence and analytics in the business curriculum in order for SIU undergraduate and graduate students to have a sense of real-world analytics applications.
It was a long-awaited new beginning for many Southern Illinois University Carbondale freshman business students as they moved into Brown Hall. That exciting Thursday signified the end of summer break and since then, the campus has been blooming with events such as an Ice Cream Social and a Welcome Back Barbecue.
The 2018 Emerging Saluki Leader Award winners are Nicole Cundiff, Clayton Pryor, and Ranie Atwood Verby. These alumni have graduated within the last fifteen years and are already emerging as leaders in their distinct fields and through their civic involvement. The impressive trio all have a master’s degree and are making us proud in Alaska, Missouri, and Illinois.
At the annual Honors Day Ceremony, deserving students were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom, in different CoB registered student organizations, and in their professional readiness. Alumnus Ryan Hammer and current vice president and general manager of Caesar Entertainment was the guest speaker. This year’s Outstanding Senior of the year was awarded to the commendable accounting senior Jared Nicholas.
