Vision

The NOAA Marine Debris Program envisions the global ocean and its coasts free from the impacts of marine debris.

Mission

The mission of the NOAA Marine Debris Program is to investigate and prevent the adverse impacts of marine debris.

The NOAA Marine Debris Program has developed a strategic plan to help us succeed in continuing to combat marine debris in the coming years.

The NOAA Marine Debris Program is authorized by Congress to work on marine debris through the Marine Debris Act, signed into law in 2006 and amended in 2012.

The Interagency Marine Debris Coordinating Committee (IMDCC) is a multi-agency body responsible for streamlining the federal government’s efforts to address marine debris.

The NOAA Marine Debris Program offers several nationwide, competitive funding opportunities for marine debris projects.
