The Interagency Marine Debris Coordinating Committee (IMDCC) is a multi-agency body responsible for streamlining the federal government’s efforts to address marine debris. Representatives meet to coordinate a comprehensive program of marine debris activities and make recommendations for research priorities, monitoring techniques, educational programs, and regulatory action.

The IMDCC consists of the following federal entities:

• Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (Chair)
• U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Vice-Chair)
• Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
• Department of Defense, U.S. Navy
• Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard
• Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement
• Department of the Interior, National Park Service
• Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
• Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division
• Department of State, Office of Ocean and Polar Affairs
• Marine Mammal Commission

The IMDCC was established in 2006 by the Marine Debris Research, Prevention, and Reduction Act. The committee submits biennial reports to Congress with updates on activities, achievements, and recommendations.
