    At the suggestion of our Student Advisory Committee, we had therapy dogs in the Music Building today. Juries seemed less stressful. It was just wonderful!

    We are excited that Caleb Hudson AND Raquel Rodriquez will join our faculty as Asst. Profs. of Trumpet. Caleb is currently a member of the Canadian Brass & faculty at Colorado State. Raquel is faculty at Tenn. Tech & principal of Bryan Symph.

    We are excited that Jonathan Patterson will join our faculty this fall as Asst. Prof. of Popular/Commercial Music. He is currently faculty at USC, where he teaches harmony/aural skills & classes in audio recording/editing, MIDI sequencing, & notation in its Popular Music program.

    Hannah Leffler placed 3rd at the National Flute Assoc. Young Artist Competition, one of the world's most prestigious competitions for flute. Leffler was joined by Martin Godoy & Rachel Woolf in the quarter-finals & Woolf in the semi-finals. All 3 are DMA students. Congrats, all!

    So proud to share that DMA student Sean Murphy has been appointed Asst. Prof. of Arts Mgmt. & Entrepreneurship at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory starting fall 2018! He is the 1st UNT student w/related field in music entrepreneurship hired to teach the subject at the univ. level.

    Ethnomusicology PhD student Yuxin Mei has been awarded the 2018 Presser Graduate Music Award at UNT. Her project consists of 8 weeks of intensive study & training in Chinese ensemble music w/profs. from China & Xinghai Conservatories, and Teochew Music Ensemble.

    The mourns the loss of our alumnus Bob Dorough. Bob passed away Monday in Mt. Bethel, PA at the age of 94. Bob is best known as the composer of "Schoolhouse Rock!" songs like "Conjunction Junction" or "3 is a Magic Number." See NPR's article:
