DENTON – The North Texas track and field will compete at the 2018 Baylor Invitational on Saturday, April 7, at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.

The event will feature top men's and women's athletes from Abilene Christian, Baylor, DePaul, Incarnate Word, Minnesota (women’s), Oklahoma Baptist, Oral Roberts, Oregon State, Prairie View A&M, SMU, Texas Southern, UT-Arlington and UTSA.

The Mean Green will be sending 23 men’s student-athletes and 32 women’s to the meet. The event will begin with the hammer throw and javelin at 10 a.m. The running events won’t start until 3 p.m. with the 2,000-meter steeplechase.

Entering the Baylor Invitational, freshman Darien Porter is ranked fifth in C-USA in the 100-meters with a time of 10.50. Freshman Taylor Blackshire is 10th on the women’s side in the 100m at 11.86. Freshman Aneesa Scott is sixth in the 200-meters with a time of 24.22. Sophomore Tim Jones sits eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:55.97 and junior Rea Iseli is sixth on the women’s side at 2:12.98.

Sophomore Bailey Ashmore leads C-USA with a pole vault mark of 3.96 meters and senior Dominique Drayden is eighth in long jump at 7.23 meters. Sophomore Breanna Eckels leads in long jump on the women’s side at 6.19 meters. Sophomore Karl Sralla holds the top mark in discus at 53.34 meters and junior Javier Lopez-Ibarra is second in javelin at 66.55 meters. Sophomore Kristyn Archuleta is second in javelin with a throw of 48.54 meters.

North Texas will be looking for more top marks in order to qualify student-athletes for the NCAA Preliminaries on May 23-26 in Sacramento, California.
