DENTON - It's draft day in Dallas, as the NFL's three-day extravaganza kicks off Thursday night from AT&T Stadium in Arlington at 7 p.m. CT with the first round.

Several Mean Green hopefuls await their professional fates, including running back Jeffery Wilson, who became the first North Texas player to earn a combine invite since Adrian Awasom in 2005.

Wilson is the program's fourth leading rusher with 3,205 yards and also ranks third in career rushing touchdowns (32). His senior season saw the Elkhart, Texas, native carry a career-high 188 times for 1,215 yards (6.5 yards per carry) and 16 touchdowns in 11 appearances for UNT. Wilson was named second team all-conference. Projections for the 6-foot, 210 pound tailback have him as a potential day three pick.

Should Wilson or any of the other Mean Green players eligible for the draft be selected, it would mark the first time a North Texas player was drafted since Cody Spencer was selected by the Oakland Raiders in 2004.

Others in the mix include safety Kishawn McClain, kicker Trevor Moore and newly converted h-back Andy Flusche.

McClain concluded his North Texas career as the program's seventh-leading tackler (336 total stops), intercepting seven passes, forcing five fumbles and recovering two more in 51 career appearances. He posted 96 tackles as a senior in 2017, 4.5 for loss with a pair of picks, three pass break-ups, a forced fumble and a recovery in 14 games. He opened the season on the Paycom Jim Thorpe watch list and was one of the more consistent defensive players in recent Mean Green memory.

Moore left Denton as the most decorated kicker in school history and will likely have an opportunity to prove his prowess at the next level. Moore finished his career atop 12 different categories in program history: career points (313), career field goals (53), most converted and consecutive extra points (154), single-season PAT percentage (90.9 in 2017), most PATs in a single game (11 in 2014), PAT percentage in a single season and career (100 from 2014-17), field goals made in a season (20 in 2017) and single game (five in 2014), career field goal percentage (80.3) and PATs made in a season (55 in 2017). The Edmond, Oklahoma, native was 20 for 22 on field goals and earned second team all-conference honors as a senior in 2017.

Flusche plied his trade at defensive end at North Texas, and posted a career-best 43 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, a pair of pass break-ups and four quarterback hurries in 14 appearances in 2017. His size and athleticism (6-foot-3, 255 pounds) allow him to be very versatile, and he projects as an h-back at the next level. Flusche has worked hard during the time leading up to the draft making that transition and had a strong performance at the team's pro day at the end of March.
