Final Results

ATLANTA - The North Texas swimming & diving team took fourth at the 2018 Conference USA Championship after the final day of competition Saturday at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The Mean Green finished with 442 points, just behind Marshall with 513.

North Texas made it to the podium for the second day in a row with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of Leigh Faires McGee, Emmabeth Jensen, Sara Whelan and Isabelle Morris clocked a time of 3:21.75, the second-fastest in school history.

In the championship final of the 200 free, Morris set a program record with a 50.16, good enough for fifth place. Whelan took eighth in the race with a time of 50.51.

McGee began the evening finals session with a ninth-place finish in the 1650 free with a personal-best time of 16:54.57. 

After posting the second-fastest time in the 200 breast prelim (2:13.63), Kitching shaved a second off her time for a career-best time and took fourth in the final.

Meghan Miller led the way for North Texas in the finals of the platform dive, posting a personal-best score of 197.75 to take sixth in the championship final. 

"She did a great job this week staying consistent and focused through multiple lists," diving coach Mark Murdock said. "Considering we don't have a platform to practice on, she has made quite the improvement and still has a lot of potential."

QUICK HITTERS

• The Mean Green have placed fourth at the conference championship three years in a row.
• Jowita Sienczyk (2:00.80) and Lindsey Blanchard (2:02.16) took first and third, respectively, in the "B" final of the 200 back with personal-best times.
• Deneen Carter posted a personal-best time of 52.27 in the "C" final of the 100 free.
