DENTON - For the first time since April 30, 2015, the North Texas softball team will host a nationally-ranked opponent against No. 2 Oklahoma in front of a sold-out crowd at Lovelace Stadium at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Due to the large expected crowd, fans are encouraged to arrive early. The ticket office and main gates will open at 4:30 p.m. on game-day. Tickets are being held for the first 100 North Texas students.
The Mean Green (22-23, 8-9 C-USA) are looking for their first-ever win against the Sooners (41-3, 12-0 Big 12), the two-time defending Women's College World Series champions. OU defeated UNT 8-0 in six innings last season in Norman.
North Texas is coming off a pair of losses to Florida International on Sunday afternoon that extended their losing streak to six games. The Panthers scored 12 of their 14 runs in the first three innings of each game.
Sophomore Katie Clark has been a bright note in the Mean Green's skid as the outfielder has extended her streak of reaching base safely to 17 games. In that span, she has a .444 on-base percentage.
The game will be live-streamed on C-USA TV and live stats will be available at MeanGreenStats.com.
