April 20, 2018

Conference USA Championship
Texarkana Country Club | Texarkana, Arkansas
The North Texas men's golf team returns to action after a two-week layoff for the biggest tournament of the year, to date. The Mean Green are coming off an 11th-place finish at The Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas, last month in another loaded tournament.

THE EVENT: Texarkana Country Club is a 6,969-yard, par-72 course. The four-day tournament begins Sunday, when golfers will play 18 holes, followed by 18-hole rounds on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the top four teams after 54 holes will play in a match-play tournament with the winner claiming the Conference USA championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

THE FIELD: There are 13 teams participating in the tournament, and North Texas is the highest ranked team in the conference. The field includes: Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, No. 73 Middle Tennessee, No. 62 North Texas, Old Dominion, No. 83 Rice, Southern Miss, No. 85 UAB, No. 87 UTEP, No. 80 UT-San Antonio and Western Kentucky.

REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be No. 64 Ian Snyman, Thomas Rosenmueller, Jordan Sanders, Viktor Forslund and Vitek Novak.

RESULTS: Live results will be posted on GolfStat.com. Full recaps from each day of competition will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each round.

LAST TIME OUT: North Texas battled a field loaded with seven top-20 teams, including No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 2 Texas A&M, and finished the two-day Aggie Invitational in 11th place, while Ian Snyman tied for 26th individually at 8-over par.

STRACKE SAYS: "The team is confident and ready to play at the Conference USA Championship," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "This team has more depth than any of my previous teams at UNT. The guys have been focused this week in practice, and I know they are ready to compete."

UP NEXT: North Texas will hope to clinch the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament with a win in Texarkana. If not, the Mean Green will look to earn an at-large bid or get individual bids.

HOME SWEET MARIDOE: North Texas has enjoyed its first year in its new home -- the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. The course opened to members in July and gives the Mean Green a state-of-the-art home course with world-class facilities, including a fully-dedicated practice facility, complete with a two-ended driving range to account for many varying wind conditions, a sprawling three-acre short game retreat and indoor facilities with state-of-the-art hitting bays that provide tools the program has not yet had at its disposal.
