Welcome from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Information Technology and Decision Sciences (ITDS) at the University of North Texas, a nationally-recognized, student-focused, Tier 1 research university.

The ITDS department consists of 25 top quality research faculty, teaching faculty, and professional staff members whose mission is to prepare the next generation of information systems and business analytics professionals and conduct cutting edge research.

It is an exciting time to explore, teach, and be a student in the programs offered through our department. According to the most recent Society for Information Management IT Trends Report, IT budgets are expanding and demand for information systems professionals is on the rise. The 2017 Information Systems Job Index indicates graduates with information systems degrees command the highest salary of all business disciplines at the undergraduate level, and the second highest salary at the masters level. Driven by an interest in Big Data, the demand for Business Analytics is equally impressive, with salaries ranging from $61,000 to $71,000 for knowledgeable graduates.

Our department offers rigorous degree programs at the bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. levels and has a long track record of producing well-prepared, motivated, and, ultimately, successful business professionals. Additionally, our BBA and MS Business Analytics degrees are designated as STEM programs. As you continue to learn about the ITDS Department and the programs we offer, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need additional information.

Sincerely,

Leon Kappelman
