Advanced Data Analytics, M.S. (Online option)

The Master of Science in Advanced Data Analytics is a focused interdisciplinary degree, providing students with the academic and practical knowledge necessary to meet a growing research field, and the expanding needs of business and industry. The program prepares students to conduct sophisticated analysis in business, industry and science by developing analytic competency in statistics and data analytics, coupled with a strong knowledge of contemporary data structures.. Graduates can expect to pursue careers as senior statisticians/data analysts in industry and/or go onto PhD programs in quantitative fields.

Available at UNT's New College at Frisco, the program offers courses at nights and weekends during three sessions each year.. The EMCS program is the collective-professional experience of its participants, greatly enriching the educational environment. The Master of Science in Data Science is designed to meet the rising demand for data science professionals by providing a broad knowledge of the required tools, techniques and methods.The program helps students acquire the skills and competencies needed in designing, transforming and implementing data sets and large volumes of information into actionable knowledge. Educational Psychology, M.S.

The Master of Science in Educational Psychology focuses on many different components. Students can expect to learn about physical, cognitive and social-emotional growth and change across the lifespan with regard to developmental norms. The investigation of interpersonal relationships both inside and outside the family unit,as well as research, measurement, statistics and program evaluations, are other focuses. Interdisciplinary Studies prepares you to examine and solve complex problems as you draw on knowledge and skills from more than one academic field. The concentration in Applied Analytics is designed to prepare you for a wide variety of employment opportunities, such as data analyst, operations research analyst, quantitative marketing specialist, predictive analyst, research and modeling analyst, statistician and the like. Potential places of employment could include retail and investment banks, healthcare and insurance providers, e-commerce portals, airlines, market research firms, sport consulting, telecommunications firms, petroleum and renewable energy industries, institutions of higher education and government agencies, including the FBI and the CIA.

Interdisciplinary Studies, M.S., Applied Data Science concentration

Data science is one of the fastest growing areas across almost every field of industry and government. Although data is widely available, many entities have no systematic way to turn data into action. The Interdisciplinary concentration in Applied Data Science at UNT meets this challenge, providing talented students the opportunity to enter a rapidly expanding job market, and working professionals a chance to update their skills and businesses with resources to compete in a data-rich marketplace. Students will take 15 credit hours in a data science core, integrating it with two additional fields to create a degree option that is unique to specific industry needs.

The 36-hour Master of Science in Mathematics degree is designed for students who plan to use mathematical theory and techniques in fields outside mathematics. In addition to mathematical training, there are opportunities to develop advanced instructional skills. Mathematics experts are sought after in various academic and non-academic areas.

Doctoral Degrees and Concentrations

Behavioral Science, Ph.D.

The Behavioral Science program offers the skills and education needed for students interested in behavioral research and training. This program includes behavioral science, general core psychology, social psychology, statistics, cognitive and affective bases of behavior, biological bases of behavior, history and systems, and thesis and dissertation. Graduates usually aspire for positions in academia, however opportunities for private industry also exist.

Business, Ph.D.

   Business doctoral programs are designed to prepare students for research and teaching at the university level, yet offers opportunities for those who wish to pursue careers outside academia. The Management Science program consists of major and supporting fields of at least 33 hours and a research core of 12 hours.

Computer Science and Engineering, Ph.D.

The program of study for the doctoral degree with a major in Computer Science and Engineering includes formal course work, independent study and research. The purpose of the degree is to produce a professional capable of directing and conducting research within the discipline of computer science and engineering.

Educational Psychology, Ph.D.

Students in this program will learn the nature of research design, measurement and data analysis in the research process, as well as the integrated relationships between each area.  Coursework and experience in research design will help students put together strong research studies to answer questions across many fields. Measurement will focus on the proper assessment of the things one often wishes to study, and the statistics elements will help students develop skills in data analysis and management.  With this degree, students will be able to gather, analyze and judge empirical information to help inform research and policy, and will be prepared to emphasize research and data analysis in a range of settings, including universities, public and private schools, corporations, and governmental roles.

The doctoral mathematics program is designed to provide students with competence in several major areas of mathematics, while providing intensive study and research in the area of specialization. Students are required to pass qualifying examinations in two areas, chosen from algebra, applied mathematics, complex analysis, probability and statistics, real analysis, and topology. This degree provides opportunities for employment in academic or industry settings.
