New Faculty for 2018-2019

Crystal L. Gerrard is a Ph.D. candidate in Music Education at The Ohio State University in Columbus, and is scheduled to defend her dissertation in April 2018. Her research interests include urban music education, music teacher education, culturally responsive pedagogy, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and social justice in music education. Her dissertation is entitled, "Perceptions of Band Participation in a Predominantly Latino School Community.” A native of Texas, Crystal previously held public school band teaching positions in Grand Prairie and Lewisville. She holds degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington and Southern Methodist University.
