Prospective Student-Athlete Information - Volleyball

We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green volleyball. The 2018 Southwest Region and Conference USA Coach of the Year, Andrew Palileo's fifth year included the progam's first regular season conference title, conference championship match appearance and postseason victory. North Texas recorded a program-high four all-region honorees and five all-conference selections, including Co-Freshman of the Year Barbara Teakell. Seniors Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam, along with junior setter Karley York and Teakell all received all-region and all-conference recognition. Senior Alexis Wright was named Second Team All-C-USA. North Texas will return seven letterwinners in 2018, along with nine newcomers joining the program next season. 

Quick Hits On North Texas

The 2017 North Texas volleyball season was one for the record books as the Mean Green recorded numerous program milestones including best record (29-4), most wins (29), best conference record (13-1), longest win streak (16), best start to a season (12-1), best home record (15-2), first postseason victory and first appearance in the AVCA Coaches Poll. North Texas claimed a share of the Conference USA regular season title, its first regular season championship in program history.

Entering the C-USA Tournament as the top seed, the Mean Green reached the championship match, falling 3-1 to Western Kentucky. After missing out on the NCAA tournament, North Texas accepted an automatic bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), where they earned the school’s first postseason win against Oral Roberts but lost to TCU in the second round.

The Volleyball Coaching Staff

Please note that, per NCAA rules, coaches can only respond via e-mail to juniors (after September 1) and seniors in high school. Coaches must mail responses to freshmen and sophomores, per NCAA rules. You can call any North Texas coach, but they cannot return your phone call unless you are a senior in high school.

Facilities
North Texas moved into in a brand-new facility in 2006, the Mean Green Volleyball Center. Connected to the Volleyball Center is the office and locker room complex which houses team meeting rooms with built in audio/visual capabilities for volleyball, soccer, golf and swimming and softball teams. Amenities include state of the art locker rooms for volleyball, soccer and softball. Coaching staff offices, staff locker room, laundry facility, visitors and officials dressing rooms and auxiliary sport training room are included in this facility.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
