Volleyball Continues Run At History In Ind.

Updated Game Notes

IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Tuesday’s win at rival UT Arlington secured a 5-0 record for the North Texas volleyball team, which is the hottest start in school history. The Mean Green will be looking to keep that momentum going this weekend at the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational.

NT’s five match win streak is tied for the sixth-longest in school history, and it’s all due to the squad’s defensive efforts. The Mean Green has a Sun Belt-low .067 opponent attack percentage, and NT’s 21 solo blocks are 15 more than any other SBC squad. Courtney Windham leads the league with 1.62 blocks per set and, Shelby Tamura’s 33 digs at UTA are tied for the sixth most in program history.

No slouch on the offensive end either, North Texas ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in kills (12.88 per set) and hitting percentage (.208), while Windham (2nd – 3.94 per set) and Carnae Dillard (10th – 3.06 per set)  both rank among the league’s top 10 in kills.

The Mean Green will be taking on host IUPIU on Friday evening at 6 p.m., and will face Ball State and Georgia State on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively. Live stats will be available via the IUPUI athletics site.

Eastern Michigan, which will be in Denton for the Mean Green Volleyball Classic on Sept. 7 & 8, is the reigning champ of the IUPUI Invite.
