DENTON, Texas - North Texas volleyball head coach Andrew Palileo announced the promotion of Madison Barr to assistant coach on Friday, January 17, following a year as the director of operations.

"I am honored to be on the North Texas staff," Barr said. "I grew up in the area, North Texas is my alma mater, and I'm excited about our program's future."

Barr, who was a three-year player for North Texas after transferring from Eastern Illinois prior to her sophomore year, assumes her new role after one year as the director of operations.

"I'm excited to have Madison on board, she did an excellent job for us last season in every aspect of her job, and she will be a great mentor to our current and future players," coach Palileo said. "One of the main areas of her position will be recruiting. Having played for North Texas, come up through the club scene in the region and grown up in the state, Madison felt like the perfect person for this job."

Prior to North Texas, the Southlake native played for Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and at Carroll High School.

"I want to thank coach Palileo and coach Villarreal for giving me this opportunity," Barr continued. "Coach 'Pali' is an excellent leader, and I look forward to helping him and coach Susan (Halverson) build a championship-caliber team with quality student athletes."

She graduated from North Texas in December of 2011 with a political science degree plus a minor in spanish. She followed it up with a master's degree in sports management from TWU.
