Henderson Anchors Mean Green Track

Austin, TX (04-08-05) - School record holder Jessica Henderson had the fifth best discus throw in North Texas history, powering the Mean Green track and field team at the Texas Relays.

 

The senior's toss of 142-04 earned her an 11th place finish. Henderson owns three of the top five throws in the program's history.

 

Junior Ciji Brooks hauled in the Sun Belt Conference's fourth fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles. Last season's conference champion in the event, Brooks finished 27th with a time of 14.17. Senior Jahnisha Warren also ran in the event, finishing 57th with a time of 14.97.

 

The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth in their heat with a time of 3:46.43. The time is the second fastest in the conference this season.

 

Faring about as well as their female counterparts, the men's 4x400-meter relay team clocked the fourth fastest time in the conference. The Mean Green finished fourth in their heat with a time of 3:13.87.

 

A pair of senior-freshman duos powered the Mean Green sprinters in the 100-meter dash. Senior Osaze Aghedo and freshman Rachel Runnels finished in 48th and 52nd place for the women. Aghedo ran a 12.26 while Runnels finished in 12.31. On the men's side, freshman Brandon Irabor and senior Derek Logan finished 34th and 48th. Irabor timed in at 10.83 and Logan at 10.99.

 

In the final event of the night, the men's 4x1,500-meter relay of senior Justin Kauffman, freshman Sean Covington, freshman Frank Ngeno and sophomore Josh Rogers finished eighth with a time of 16:40.46.

 

On Saturday, senior Kory Williams will look to snag his second victory in as many weeks in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles. Williams recorded the nation's fourth fastest time in the event, 51.13, in last week's Arlington Invitational.
