T&F Returns Home For NT Spring Classic

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field returns home to host the North Texas Spring Classic Saturday at Fouts Field.

Junior Steven White and Senior Sara Dietz enter the meet as the men's and women's Sun Belt Track Athletes of the Week after outstanding showings at the Texas Relays.

White currently holds the seventh fastest time in the world and fourth fastest time in the NCAA when he registered a school record 50.53 second time to become the first Mean Green track & field athlete to win a Texas Relays event since 1981.

Dietz registered another top-time in the Sun Belt Conference when she finished eighth in the 1,500-meter run.  The weekly conference honor was her third this year and second in as many weeks. She currently sits atop the SBC in the 800 and 1,500 meter runs, the only two events she has participated in this outdoor season.

Saturday's meet will mark the only home meet of the season for the Mean Green and its fourth consecutive week competing in the state of Texas.

Tickets start at five dollars for adults and drop to three dollars for kids high school age and younger.

The javelin and the pole vault will kick-off Saturday's events at 10 a.m., with running beginning at 3 p.m. The hammer throw will be contested Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
