NT Track Sends Four Runners To Last Chance Meet

DENTON, Texas (3/5/09) - Looking to improve their chances at a shot to qualify for the NCAA Championships, the North Texas track and field team will send four sprinters to the Arkansas Last Chance meet this Friday in Fayetteville.

Freshman Keyth Talley and junior Byron Washington will compete on the men's side while senior Lauren Wiggins and sophomore Brittani Simmons will race for the women.

Talley set NCAA Provisional times in both the 60-meter dash (6.74) and 200-meter dash (21.48) in 2009. The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native was also just named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. Washington meanwhile posted a season-best time of 6.46 in the 55-meter dash and finished seventh in the conference.

Wiggins, despite missing nearly the entire indoor season, bounced back with a first-place performance in the 55-meter hurdles (7.92) to win back-to-back individual titles in the hurdles. Simmons, a Killeen, Texas native, is seeking to improve her time in the 55-meter dash. She ran a season-best mark of 7.12 in the competition earlier this season in Lubbock.

Live stats will be available on arkansasrazorbacks.com as well as flashresults.com. Pending the results from Arkansas the NCAA Championships will be held in College Station, Texas Mar. 13-14.
