DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field has its sights set on its first Sun Belt Conference Championship since 2005 as it heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the SBC Indoor Championships Saturday and Sunday from the Murphy Center.

The North Texas women, who finished third in both the indoor and outdoor championships last season, have been picked to finish third in a poll of Sun Belt Conference coaches.

Week Seven Notes

Leading the women's side will be seniors Sara Dietz and Ingrid Mollenkopf.

Dietz, who set the school records in both the 800-meter and 3,000-meter run, will add the mile to her repertoire for the event while Mollenkopf will take to the track for the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs.

Joining Dietz and Mollenkopf will be newcomer Jo Adams.  After running in only two track meets at the collegiate level, Adams sits third in the Sun Belt Conference in the mile and is in the top-10 in the 3,000-meter run.

The men's side will see Clinton Collins and CJ Fowler lead the way for the Mean Green,

Collins currently sits first in the Sun Belt in the 400-meter dash, setting the school record last time out with a 47.17 second race.

Fowler has been solid during his senior season and will look to put a cap on his final indoor season in the 55-meter and 200-meter dash.

The North Texas men were picked to finish fifth.

Competition from the Murphy Center is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the pentathlon 55-meter hurdles.
