Track & Field To Compete At Star-Studded Tyson Invitational

DENTON, Texas (2/12/09) The North Texas track and field team makes their second trip of the indoor season to Fayeteville, Arkansas this weekend to participate in the 10th annual Tyson Invitational.

Between both the men and women, the Mean Green will face 17 teams currently ranked in the Top 25 in the country.

The Mean Green is coming off an impressive showing in Houston where eight athletes placed in the top three. Keyth Talley continued his amazing freshman campaign by setting the school record in the 60-meters with a time of 6.74, tops among all collegiate runners there and good enough for the top time in the Sun Belt Conference this season.

Talley, who earned an NCAA Provisional Mark, will be striving to capture an NCAA Automatic Mark (6.14) on Friday at 11:45 a.m.

Sophomore Alysha Adams came close to beating Lauren Wiggins’ school record (8.25) in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.45 last week in Houston. Adams finished third overall and her time is first amongst all runners in the SBC after being converted to the 55-meter hurdles (7.88).

Ironically Wiggins' 8.25 record in the 60-meter hurdles came last season at the Tyson Invite.

North Texas has also received a boost from high jumper Toby Edwards, who claimed his second SBC Performer of the Week with a season-best jump of 6-8.25. That mark currently ranks second in the conference.

Competition at the Randal Tyson Track Center begins Friday morning and at 10 a.m. with the men’s pole vault and will pick up again on Saturday morning with the women’s high jump. Live results can be found at ArkansasRazorback.com or at flashresults.com.
