Duo Advances To Consolation Final

WACO, Texas (11/6/10) - Mean Green Tennis finished the second day of the HEB Baylor Invitational with a doubles team in the consolation championship at the Baylor Tennis Center on Sunday morning.

Junior transfer Nadia Lee and senior Madura Ranganathan defeated the UTA duo of Daiana Negreanu and Natalia Mayuk 8-6 to essentially advance to the doubles consolation finals. The Rice team of Kim Anicete and Rebekka Hanle that Lee and Ranganathan were scheduled to play in the semi-finals withdrew due to injury.

RESULTS

Paula Dinuta took down the eight seeded singles player of Ana Guzman of Rice in three sets to advance to the quarterfinals before falling the TCU's third seeded Katariina Tuohimma in straight sets.

"Paula had her second good showing here in Waco," said associate head coach Jeff Maren. "After winning the backdraw tournament in the Regional Championship, she followed that up with a quarterfinal finish in the Baylor Invite today.  Along the way she defeated Georgia's Cameron Ellis, a nationally ranked player last season for the Bulldogs, and 8th seeded Ana Guzman from Rice."

North Texas will finish its fall season Sunday morning in Waco.  The next matches the Mean Green appear in will be the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational, which takes place January 14-17 in Ft. Meyers, Fla.
