Mean Green Hosting 2007 Sun Belt Tennis Championships

DENTON (4/18/07) With wins in two of its last four matches, the Mean Green tennis team will look to make some opening round noise as it hosts the Sun Belt Tennis Tournament beginning Friday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

On the strength of its 7-0 regular-season finale sweep over Louisiana Tech, North Texas (2-17) earned the 12th seed and draws No. 5 Troy (11-7) in first round action beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Two-time defending champion Florida International earned the top seed and will face the winner of No. 8 Florida Atlantic and No. 9 Arkansas State at 6:30 p.m.

The Sun Belt Championships will be the first showcase for North Texas’ new state-of-the-art facility The Waranch Tennis Complex. Home of the Mean Green tennis team since 2006, the 12-court $3 million complex is quickly becoming known as one of the premier facilities in the region.
