DENTON (3/24/04) In a marathon match that lasted over six hours due to a rain delay, the Mean Green women’s tennis team (12-8) claimed a 4-3 victory over NCAA II nationally-ranked Abilene Christian on Wednesday at Goldfield Tennis Center.
With
Schmulbach won her 14th match of the season, which is tied with Kelli Royer for the most on the team. Royer was not in action due to injury, but is expected to return later this season.
The Wildcats held a 2-1 advantage when the rain delay began, but the Mean Green was ahead in the four singles matches still in play. Three of the six singles flights went a full three sets.
Lee and Katherine Harris accounted for
The Mean Green, which is now 6-3 in home matches, is back in action on April 13 at UT-Arlington.
