No. 51 Tennis Heads to Wichita State Saturday

DENTON, Texas - No. 51 North Texas tennis heads north to Wichita, Kansas, in search of a Sunflower State sweep against Wichita State on Saturday morning at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.

A win for the Mean Green (11-5) on Saturday would give NT wins over all three NCAA Division 1 schools in Kansas after defeating No. 53 Kansas State and Kansas earlier in the season.

"We've been focusing on improvement every day and working hard," said head coach Sujay Lama. "Our seniors have really stepped up and that has been the key in how we have been playing lately.  The key for us is to continue focusing on the process each day and giving our very best effort in every match we play."

Senior leadership has carried the Mean Green in recent matches, with Paula Dinuta, Irina Paraschiv and Nadia Lee all riding win streaks.

Dinuta, the SBC Player of the Week last week, has now won five matches in a row and is attempting to be the second North Texas athlete with 10 singles wins this season. She is 9-5 on the season.

After missing the first few matches of the season due to injury, Paraschiv currently holds the best record on the team with an 8-3 mark.

Wichita State has been off since defeating Sun Belt Conference opponent Denver, 4-3, on March 4. North Texas has since downed the Pioneers, 5-2.

First serve is set for 11 a.m. at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
