Mean Green Tennis Falls At No. 45 TCU

FORT WORTH (3/11/04) Playing a nationally ranked opponent for the third time in its last four matches, the North Texas women’s tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 45 TCU on Thursday at that Bayard H. Friedman Center.

The Mean Green goes to 10-6 with the setback, while the Horned Frogs brought their record to 6-6.

TCU swept doubles and took five of the six singles flights to claim the victory.  Freshman Kelli Royer picked up the Mean Green’s lone victory, defeating Jenn Chay (6-3, 7-6) in flight two.  Royer now has 12 wins on the season, tying Ingrid Stockinger for the most on the team.

Duo’s Krysta Lee/Katherine Harris and Royer/Ingrid Stockinger both had two-match winning streaks snapped in the match.

The match was the first of four consecutive road outings for the Mean Green, which continues play Monday, Mar. 15, at Florida International.  Monday’s match is set to get started at 2 p.m.
