Tennis Completes FGCU Invitational

FT. MYERS, Fla. - Mean Green tennis wrapped up the fall tournament portion of its schedule at the Florida Gulf Coast Hilton Garden Inn Invitational on Monday.

"We got the right amount of matches against very good competition to cap off our preseason training," said head coach Sujay Lama. "We put a lot of hard work this week. This is a tight knit team that is determined to improve each day and that is what excites me the most."

FINAL RESULTS

After dropping their first match in the second flight of doubles, the pair of Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan powered through South Florida's Rehberger and Vasenina, 8-1, to finish with a 2-1 record during the tournament.

In flight three of doubles, Senior Amy Joubert and Junior Paula Dinuta capture third place after defeateing SU's Cable and Stauffer-Macdowell 8-4.

On the singles side, only two members were able to complete matches before the rain came in and cancelled the rest of the matches. 

Ranganathan was set to play for the flight five singles championship, while Dinuta and Barbora Vykydalova were going to play for third place in their respective brackets.

The newest member of the team, freshman Isabel Bos, was schedule to play for fifth place after posting a 1-1 record in the first two days of play.

North Texas hits the court again on Saturday, Jan. 22, in Fayetteville, Ark., when it takes on the No. 22 Arkansas Razorbacks.
