Tennis Downs TexAnns 7-0

DENTON, Texas - North Texas tennis downed the Tarleton State TexAnns 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

The Mean Green (7-11) jumped out to an early lead when it took the doubles point in commanding fashion.

"This was an important match for us because it gave the girls the opportunity to improve their confidence against a well-coached team," said associate head coach Jeff Maren. "Our win today helps to prepare us for two tough conference matches this weekend."

The No. 3 doubles duo of Madura Ranganathan and Paula Dinuta started things off with a dominant 8-1 victory, while Irina Paraschiv and Barbora Vykydalova followed their lead, winning 8-2.

Singles saw the two senior members of the Mean Green, Ranganathan and Amy Joubert sweep their opponents and put two more points on the board with 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Paraschiv wasn't far behind as she downed the TexAnns Jakova in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.  The junior's win marked the fourth and clinching point in the match.

Nadia Lee, Vykydalova and Dinuta all won their matches in convincing fashion as well, as only one member of North Texas dropped more than four games total.

The Mean Green will be back in action Friday afternoon when it plays host to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at 3 p.m. at the Waranch Tennis Complex.  As always, admission is free of charge.
