Mean Green's Winning Streak Ends At No. 44 ODU

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA — The North Texas tennis team ended its winning streak with a 4-0 loss at No. 44 Old Dominion Sunday morning.

The match was clinched before the Mean Green’s No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles players Maria Kononova, Tamuna Kutubidze and Haruka Sasaki could finish their respected match.

UNT (7-10) also ended its four-match streak of winning the doubles point after the Monarchs won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles on Sunday. Kononova and junior Minying Liang claimed the Mean Green’s only victory over ODU (16-4) with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

After losing the doubles point, North Texas lost singles at No. 3 through No. 5 in straight sets.
