Mean Green Opens Season At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION (10/10/03) -- The North Texas women’s swimming and diving team opened its 2003-04 season at Texas A&M on Friday at the Aggies Student Rec Center Natatorium.

The Mean Green was competitive with three event championships and 18 top-three finishes, but the Aggies were able to pull out a 171-109 victory. Freshmen Lindsay Therrian and Kathleen McManis each won an event and North Texas took first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle.

Competing in her first collegiate meet, Therrian won the three-meter diving event with a score of 207.00. Emily Cassell took second place to give North Texas the top two spots in the event. McManis swam a 2:18.42 in the 200 Individual Medley, while Kara Brock and Gwen Rourke finished second and third, respectively.

Brock claimed second in the 200 Breaststroke as well, and Bethany Pipes swam well for the Mean Green with two top-three finishes.

Emilia Tudose, Devon Dlouhy, Pipes and Elizabeth Johnson teamed up to lead North Texas to the 200 Freestyle Relay championship with a time of 1:42.18.
