Swimming and Diving Releases 2012-13 Schedule

DENTON, Texas- North Texas swimming and diving released its 2012-13 schedule, announced by coach Joe Dykstra. The schedule features home dual meets against in-state rival Rice, Texas A&M, and a double-dual meet with SMU and Houston. The Mean Green also host the Sun Belt Championships in Rockwall for the third straight year.

The road slate includes dual meet matchups against UALR, Tulane, and Metroplex rival TCU.

"I am very excited about the way this schedule has come together. It is once again a challenging schedule filled with our regional rivals. We are going to dual against 5 of the 6 other D-1 teams in the state of Texas. Those meets are always fun for the athletes as so many of them on all of the teams know each other and it adds a little bit of extra motivation. We are also thrilled to be able to host the final Sun Belt Championships we will ever compete in at the Rockwall Natatorium and hope to use the home pool advantage to leave the conference as champions."

North Texas begins its final season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference on the road in Arkansas. The Mean Green take on UALR (Oct. 5) in a dual meet followed by the Arkansas Relays (Oct. 6) the next day. After two weeks rest, North Texas travels to "The Big Easy" to compete in a dual meet against Tulane (Oct. 20) in New Orleans, LA.

The Mean Green then face in-state rival Rice (Nov. 2) for the first home meet of the season. North Texas has defeated the Owls in two of the past three meetings.

At semester break, the swimming and diving team travel south to San Antonio, Texas for the Incarnate Word Invitational (Dec. 15-17).

The Mean Green will not leave the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2013. North Texas hosts a double-dual meet with SMU and Houston (Jan. 16), followed by a meet on the road two weeks later against cross-town rival TCU (Jan. 30).

North Texas ends the regular season at home against Texas A&M (Feb. 1).

The Aggies and Mustangs bring a fierce level of competition to the Pohl Recreation Center with Texas A&M finishing 6th at the 2012 NCAA Championships and SMU placing 16th.

The Mean Green close out the season hosting the Sun Belt Championships in Rockwall, Texas for the third consecutive and final year.
