North Texas Travels To The Bayou City
The Mean Green take on Rice and Houston as it makes a swing through Houston this weekend. North Texas is coming off a loss to No. 8 Texas A&M, with top performances coming from Seabre Pope, who finished in a dead heat for second place in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 24.80 and Angie Dworschack, who set a North Texas and Sun Belt Conference season-best time of 10:25.26, in the 1,000 yard freestyle.

Mid-Major Rank
North Texas into the latest CollegeSwimming.com / CSCAA Mid-Major Poll, ranking 12th nationally among mid-major programs. This is North Texas' first apperance in the rankings this season. North Texas' conference rivals Denver and Western Kentucky rank 4th and 7th respectively.

The Mid-Major rankings use an objective point system to compare teams' relative strength in a traditional dual meet lineup as submitted by participating teams. The ranking is available to those institutions that a) are not members of a BCS conference or Mountain West Conference, or b) provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules. Teams must have submitted entries within the first two polling periods to be eligible for the final ranking.

North Texas vs. Houston
North Texas is 2-14 all-time against the Cougars, but the Mean Green won the dual meet last season, besting the Cougars 141-101 in Denton.

North Texas vs. Rice
The Mean Green is 1-8 in the series against Rice, with North Texas' only win in the series coming last season in Denton, as the Mean Green won 152-110.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Mary Beth Geeze and Delia Covo became the first North Texas divers since Melissa Whitaker in 2003 to qualify for the NCAA Zone Diving Meet. Covo and Geeze become the 3rd and 4th divers to reach the NCAA meet, and become the first pair to qualify in the same year. This season, Delia Covo has posted three of the five best three-meter diving scores in school history, and has twice set the school record this season, first against SMU, and then again at the SCAC Western Shootout. Mary Beth Geeze would have broke the school record at the Western Shootout on the 3-meter board, if not for Covo's performance that day.

Deep In The Heart Of Texas
All of North Texas' remaining meets this season are inside the state of Texas. The Mean Green stay in-state to compete in dual meets against Houston and Rice (Houston), the Sun Belt Championships (Rockwall) and the NCAA Championships (Austin).

This Is Our Olympics
North Texas' meet against Florida Gulf Coast took place in a 50-meter Olympic pool instead of the NCAA standard 25-yard pool, therefore times need to be converted to compare to previous times and to qualifiy for NCAA consideration.

To convert the times, the raw time is converted to total seconds, then multiplied by the appropriate factor. The resulting time is truncated (no rounding) after hundredths of a second (two decimal places) and then expressed again in minutes and seconds.

Rarefied Air
The meet on October 23 in Las Cruces, N.M., took place at 3896 feet above sea level. Due to the altitude, all races of 200 yards or more had a time adjustment. For races of 200 yards, 0.5 seconds are subtracted, 2.5 seconds for 400 or 500 yard races, and 6.3 seconds from the 1000.

No. 8 Texas A&M Recap
DENTON, Texas- North Texas fell to No. 8 Texas A&M at the Pohl Recreation Center on Friday by a score of 173.5 to 116.5.

Seabre Pope finished in a dead heat for second place in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 24.80, tying her with Tess Simpson of Texas A&M.

In the 1,000 yard freestyle, Angie Dworschack set a North Texas season-best with a time of 10:25.26, finishing fourth.

Rebecca Taylor won the one-meter diving competition by posting a 243.60, narrowly missing her season best of 246.85. Taylor was the top North Texas finisher in the three-meter diving, posting a score of 227.25.

The Mean Green fall to 1-8 on the year, while the Aggies improve to 3-1.

The Mean Green return to the pool on January 14th at Rice. North Texas hosts their final home regular season meet of the year on February 2, as it hosts TCU at 6 p.m.
