Mean Green Fall At No 6 Texas A&M As Covo Has Career Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (2/6/10) - The No.6 Texas A&M Aggies proved to be too powerful for the Mean Green as they took the final dual meet of the 2009-10 season, 178-112.

"I'm proud of the way my girls came out and fought today," head coach Joe Dykstra said. "They have shown a great amount of fight all dual season long, and now it's time to turn our head to the conference championships in a little over a week."

Sophomore diver Delia Covo had another record day on the boards as she broke her own school record from the three-meter spring board. Covo totaled a score of 262.13, which was good enough for second place and nearly four points better than the previous school record of 258.38 against the University of Arkansas.

In the 400-yard individual medley, Hempleman shaved over four and a half seconds off of her previous season best by touching the wall in 4:35.01.

Then in the 200-yard breaststroke, she recorded a time of 2:24.13, over two seconds better than her 2009-10 previous best.

Next up for the Mean Green will be the Sun Belt Conference Championships.  The four-day event will take place in Nashville, Tenn., from Feb. 17-20. For more information, consult SunBeltSports.org.
