DENTON - The North Texas swimming team will return to the pool for the first time in nearly three weeks when it travels to the University of Houston's Phill Hansel Invitational. The three-day event will kick off on Friday, Nov. 21, from the Pearland Recreation Center in Pearland, Texas.

The Mean Green will race against Tulane, Houston and Rice in a weekend long, 18-swim event that features 13 individual races and five relays. The meet begins each day with a preliminary session at 10:30 a.m. Following a break, the teams will head back to the pool at 5 p.m. for finals. The meet will provide a preview of a conference championship environment with multiple teams and scoring following a championship format.

Two swimmers - seniors Mona Groteguth and Krista Rossum - look to build off of stellar performances in last year's meet. Groteguth picked up wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke events, setting two school records and picking up an NCAA B cut in each. Rossum had two individual top-three performances in both IM events, including an NCAA B consideration cut in the 400 IM.
