We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green softball.

In four seasons under head coach Tracey Kee, the North Texas softball program has reached record heights and achieved several program records and firsts.

In 2014, Kee took the Mean Green to the most wins in the program's 12-year history with 31 victories. In 2015, North Texas upset No. 7 Baylor on the road in Waco, the highest ranked team that the Mean Green have defeated in program history and just their second-ever top-25 win. And then in 2016, after a 6-4 start that included a pair of wins over nationally-ranked Baylor, North Texas received votes in one of the national polls for the first time in school history. North Texas earned 25 wins in 2017 while playing the 10th toughest non-conference schedule in the country that featured games against No. 1 Florida, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Saint Francis.

Under Kee, North Texas has had first-team All-Conference USA selections in four straight years and nine all-conference selections overall in four years, including Kelli Schkade, who was named to the first team as part of her record-breaking season in 2016 and again in 2017.

Quick Hits On North Texas
During the 2016-17 school year, the Mean Green soccer team won its third-straight Conference USA regular-season conference championship and the football team played in the Heart of Dallas Bowl for the second time in the last four years. Individually, 48 Mean Green athletes were named all-conference and five were named all-region.

Nine competitors advanced to the NCAA post-season play with three golfers competing in the NCAA Regionals, and six track and field athletes advancing to the NCAA West Preliminaries. Maria Kononova ended the tennis season ranked No. 78 in the country, which is the highest ranking for a Mean Green tennis player in school history.

The future looks bright at North Texas with two freshman receiving conference specialty awards and five newcomers being named to all-freshman teams this past season.
