Join The Mean Green At Play For Kay Day On Wednesday

DENTON, Texas (4/21/09) - Join the Mean Green softball team at Lovelace Stadium on Wednesday night for the second annual Play For Kay Day charity game. North Texas faces nationally-ranked Oklahoma for the second time this season at 6 pm.

The charity for the game is Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the team will honor University of North Texas employee Kay Johnson for her commitment and dedication to the Mean Green Athletic Department. Johnson is in remission from leukemia and will throw out the first pitch.

Proceeds from the game will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In lieu of admission, North Texas is asking for donations. Fans can purchase commemorative t-shirts, available in exchange for a cash donation. Please join us on April 22 in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

“Play For Kay Day” is the Mean Green softball team’s second charity event of the season. North Texas hosted a "Strikeout Bone Cancer" game in March. More than 120 T-shirts were sold and $1,400 raised for the American Cancer Society. Fans can still bid on a few limited-edition game items by visiting the softball auctions page on MeanGreenSports.com.
