Rupp Homers In Softball Victory

Murfreesboro, TN (4/8/07) - Senior Danielle Rupp hit her first career home run to lead the North Texas softball team to a 3-2 victory against Middle Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at Blue Raider Field.

The Mean Green (16-26, 8-7) snapped a three-game losing streak and took one out of three games with Middle Tennessee (20-22, 9-6) this weekend.

North Texas scored three runs in the second inning, posting all four of its hits in the crucial inning. The Blue Raiders were held to just two runs in the third inning.

Sophomore Ashley Lail (10-10) won her 10th game in the circle, allowing four Middle Tennessee hits in seven innings of work.

Sarah Jones led off the second inning for the Mean Green with a double. The sophomore was tagged out at the plate, trying to score the first run of the game on Kristina Fowler’s single. Kadie Platt would knock in the first run with a double down the left field line. Rupp would then knock out her first home run of her four-year career to put North Texas ahead, 3-0.

North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 when it faces Oklahoma at home at Lovelace Stadium at 6 pm.
