Mean Green Softball Hosting "Play For Kay" On Wednesday

DENTON, Texas (4/1/08) The North Texas softball team is hosting a "Play For Kay" doubleheader on Wednesday, April 2 when it faces Northwestern State at Lovelace Stadium at 3 pm.

The charity for the doubleheader is Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the team will honor University of North Texas employee Kay Johnson for her commitment and dedication to the Mean Green Athletic Department. Johnson is in remission from leukemia and will throw out the first pitch.

All proceeds will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In lieu of admission, the team is asking for donations. Fans can purchase T-shirts, commerating the event.

Wednesday’s game is the Mean Green softball team’s second charity event. North Texas hosted a "Strikeout Breast Cancer" game earlier in the season. More than 150 T-shirts were sold.  You can also bid on a few of these limited edition shirts as well as game jerseys by visiting our auctions page.
