Mean Green Travels To Tennessee

DENTON, Texas (3/18/11) - The North Texas softball team travels for the first time in a month when it faces Middle Tennessee this weekend on Friday and Saturday. The Mean Green faces the Blue Raiders on Friday at 1 pm in a doubleheader.

The Mean Green's 18-game homestand concluded with a split against No. 18 Baylor. The Mean Green went 11-7 on its homestand with five of its seven losses coming at the hands of ranked opponents.

North Texas went 2-1 against the Blue Raiders last year in a home series and is 11-13 overall in the series. The Mean Green has won only two series against MT in its program's history. Middle Tennessee is 5-16 this season and 0-3 in the conference. The Blue Raiders was swept by FIU in its opening conference series.

Senior Courtney Bradshaw posted the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead North Texas to a 9-8 victory against No. 18 Baylor on Wednesday night. North Texas lost the first game of the doubleheader, 6-1. The Bears lead the series versus North Texas, 7-4, but the Mean Green has won three of the last four. The Mean Green swept nationally-ranked Baylor last year on the road in doubleheader action. In last year's two wins, Mallory Cantler tied a school record with five RBI in the Mean Green's 11-3 five-inning run-rule opening win and then posted the game-winning hit in the 5-3 nightcap victory.
