DENTON, Texas (2/2/12) - The 2012 Mean Green softball team will open its spring season in eight days, and MeanGreenSports.com is preparing fans with a three-part video preview.

The second segment focuses on the Mean Green outfield and the series will conclude next week with a segment on the battery.

Senior Megan Rupp will man the outfield, missing just seven games in her career. The Oregon native started her career out in left field but moved over to center field last season. She will be joined by a host of newcomers. Junior Lesley Hirsch will make the move from infield to outfield and will see time in left field. Darian Blake, Jessica Shields and Jennifer Beardsley will all look for time in right field.

Speed will be a factor on the 2012 team. Rupp and sophomore Brooke Foster stole 15 of the team's 40 stolen bases last year. Rupp is second on the career stolen bases list, while Foster's 10 thefts last year put her fifth on the single-season record column.
