DENTON - The 2017 softball freshman class played a pivotal role in the Mean Green reaching the Conference USA tournament for the third time in four years. Take a look back at some of the accomplishments by the group of five.

Hanna Rebar

Coming through in the clutch
Rebar was the lone North Texas player to record multiple walk-off hits this season. Her first came in North Texas’ 6-5 victory over Texas-San Antonio on March 25 and she later delivered a three-run walk-off home run in the ninth inning against Southern Miss on April 8.

First collegiate hit
After transferring from Stephen F. Austin in January, Rebar made an immediate impact on opening day for the Mean Green, despite having limited time with the team. Trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning against UMass Lowell, Rebar launched an 0-1 pitch over the wall in left field, tying the game with her first collegiate hit.

Good eye
The San Antonio native led North Texas with 21 walks and drew at least two walks in five games.

Nicole Ochotnicki

Durable backstop
As a true freshman, Ochotnicki was North Texas’ primary catcher from the moment she stepped foot on campus. The Cedar Park, Texas, native caught 315 of the Mean Green’s 377 innings, good for 84 percent of innings played.

Back-to-back multi-hit games
Ochotnicki recorded her first back-to-back multi-hit games of her career in the series against Louisiana Tech, going 2-for-3 in games one and two of the series. She finished with five on the season.

Wear it
North Texas hitters were hit 45 times this season, with Ochotnicki being hit five of those times. The five hit by pitches was tied for third-most on the team.

Lindsay Gregory

All-Conference honors
Along with her sister, Lacy, Lindsay was awarded Conference USA All-Freshman honors after hitting .307 with 50 hits, 10 doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI. It marked the first time North Texas placed someone on the All-Freshman team.

Only one to do it
Lindsay was the lone North Texas player to record four hits in a game as well and hit two home runs. She launched two home runs against Texas Tech on March 5 and went a perfect 4-for-4 against Southern Miss on April 9.

Top-three
The younger of the twins ranked in the top-three in multi-hit games, longest reached base streak and longest hitting streak. She tallied 13 multi-hit games and a 12-game hitting streak, both second best on the team, while her 13-game reached base streak ranked third.

Camille Grahmann

Pivotal down the stretch
Despite not being an everyday player, Grahmann was one of the Mean Green’s best hitters down the stretch, hitting .357 with two triples and two RBI across the final eight games.

The winning run
In North Texas’ 3-2 extra-inning victory over No. 23 Baylor on Feb. 19, Grahmann scored what amounted to be the winning run in the top of the eighth inning. The victory was North Texas’ fourth over Baylor in three seasons.

Triples
Grahmann ranked second on the team with two triples. Her first came in a 2-for-3 showing against Louisiana Tech on April 30, while she tallied her second versus Florida A&M on May 6.

Lacy Gregory

Among elite company
Lacy was one of three players to hit a home run off the 2017 USA Softball and ESPNW’s National Player of the Year, Kelly Barnhill. Barnhill paces the nation in earned-run average (0.36) and strikeouts per seven innings (13.4).

Multi-RBI games

The elder twin tallied 10 multi-RBI games on the season, which was the top mark on the team.

Thriving at Lovelace Stadium
North Texas played 20 games at home in 2017, and Lacy made every one of them count. She hit .350 with 21 hits, five doubles, one triple and three home runs to go along with her 20 RBI and 10 runs scored. Her .617 slugging percentage at home was over 30 points higher than the No. 2 spot.
