Soccer Back At Home To Begin Sun Belt Play

DENTON, Tex. (9/28/07) The North Texas soccer team is back at home this weekend as they begin Sun Belt Conference play against Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette.  The Mean Green stumbled for the first time this season last week in the Sooner Invitational and looks to rebound at home where they are a perfect 4-0 on the year.

Up first is a battle against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday night at 7 p.m. The Mean Green and Warhawks met for the first time last year in Monroe, a 4-2 NT win. The series with the Cajuns is all North Texas at 9-0. This will only be the third visit to Denton for Louisiana-Lafayette and the first since the 2003 season.

The Mean Green begins Sun Belt Conference play this week and in conference opening games since joining the league is a perfect 7-0. As a matter of fact the Mean Green has started SBC play at 2-0 every year since becoming a member in 2000. North Texas won a school record nine conference games last season.

The Mean Green’s seven year record in Sun Belt Conference play is quite dominant at 47-9-3. North Texas is after its third regular season title in the last four years and the fourth overall.

The match on Sunday was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. but has been moved up an hour and will start at 12 p.m. from the North Texas Soccer Field.
