Mean Green Fall At Ohio State 2-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio (9/18/09) - The North Texas soccer team dropped their second straight game Friday evening in a 2-0 loss at Ohio St.

"The game really had that NCAA Tournament flavor," North Texas head coach John Hedlund said. "If we get to postseason play this season this will be great experience. Ohio St. was the best team by far we have faced in the airand unfortunately both of their goals came off corners."

"We battled a nationally ranked team on the road and made them work for everything. I'm proud of the way my girls hung in there and never quit. They showed a lot of character tonight."

The Buckeyes (6-1-1) got on the board first in the 13th minute when Colleen Brady scored her first goal of the season off a header. Ohio St. would add the game's only other goal in the 34th minute on a Courtney Jenkins shot from 20 feet out, scoring her first goal of the season as well.

North Texas (4-3) was outshot 16-3 by the Buckeyes, including 9-1 in the first half, and 9-2 in corner kicks. The Mean Green did not have a shot on goal until Kelsey Perlman did so in the 79th minute.

Junior goalkeeper Mandy Hall suffered her third loss of the season while totaling four saves.

The Mean Green will be back in action Sunday when they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Xavier Musketeers (0-7) at 12 p.m. (CT).
