Mean Green Soccer Faces Rice Tonight At Home

DENTON (9/16/05) - The North Texas soccer team closes out its four-game homestand with a match against the Rice Owls on Friday at 7 pm at the Mean Green Soccer Complex off Airport Rd. The Mean Green then takes to the road to face Houston on Sunday at 1 pm.

North Texas is riding a five-game unbeaten streak and a seven-match unbeaten streak at home. Rice enters the game coming off a 3-1 loss to 18th-ranked Nebraska. The Owls defeated 24th-ranked Auburn earlier in the season and has been regionally ranked the first two weeks of the season.

The series with the Owls is even at 1-1. North Texas lost last season, 4-0, to Rice on the road, but defeated the Owls 1-0 in 2003 at home. On Sunday the Mean Green will face the Houston Cougars. North Texas has won the last two meetings with Houston and leads the series 5-1.

Junior forward Kristen Campbell recorded goals in back-to-back games for the first time in her career against Grambling State and Missouri State. She also had her first multi-goal game of her career with two goals against Grambling State. Through the first seven games, Campbell has recorded 10 points, leaving her just two shy of her career-high 12 points she had last season.

North Texas is celebrating Youth Soccer month and the first 50 fans at tonight's game will receive an autographed scorecard.
