CLINTON, MS -- Led by five all-conference honorees, North Texas finished fourth, fifth Saturday at the Conference USA Championships at Choctaw Trails hosted by Southern Miss.

"I am really proud of both teams today," cross country coach Kevin Williams said. "They each showed resiliency to finish fourth and fifth. It was a great turnaround for the men's team after a tough pre-nationals race two weeks ago. The women's team improved from last year and stepped up today."

Senior Mike Lowe finished eighth to lead the men's team with a time of 24.36.1 in the 8k race. Freshman Jack Beaumont placed 13th with a time of 25:02.3 and senior Rick Nally was 16th at 25.16.7. Lowe (second team), Beaumont (second team), Nally (third team) all finished top-21 to earn all-conference honors. Redshirt sophomore Alex Cleveland touched in 30th with a time of 25:51.4 and sophomore Tim Jones was the fifth scorer in 34th at 25:58.9. Senior Zach Kirkland came in 35th with a time of 26:02.2.

As a team, the Mean Green placed fourth with only Middle Tennessee (first), Charlotte (second) and Rice (third) finishing ahead of them.

On the women's side, junior Susannah Lynch finished third with a personal-best time of 17:01.4 and was the second fastest time in school history for a 5k race. Freshman Rea Iseli came in 20th to earn third team all-conference with a time of 18:02.9. Senior Christina Moralez placed 29th with a time of 18:18.4 and sophomore Cassidy Adams was 32nd at 18:26.2. Senior Victoria Junious was the fifth scorer on the team coming in 53rd with a time of 19:04.4.

"Susannah ran a phenomenal race and is having an outstanding season," Williams added. "I know she is disappointed in third but her time was really good. The women's team was seventh at one point in the race and battled back to finish fifth thanks to great improvement from Cassidy Adams and Victoria Junious."

The women's team finished fifth overall with 135 points. Charlotte won the team title with 64 points.
