MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - The North Texas women's golf team was unable to climb the  leaderboard in the final round at the Sun Belt Conference Championship and finished in fourth place after a third round score of 295. North Texas finished 14 strokes behind Denver, who won the conference title for the eighth straight year.

Despite the fourth place finish, head coach Jeff Mitchell was named the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and North Texas had four players earn all-conference honors. Mitchell is the first women's golf coach in school history to win the award.

Kelsey Kipp, Chandra Alexander, Jacey Chun, and Addison Long all were named to the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf All-Conference Team. The four players selected are a school record for most number of all-conference players in a single season.

North Texas has not had an all-conference selection since 2005 and since joining the league in 2000 the Mean Green has only had five all-conference picks since 2001.

The Mean Green shot an 889 for the tournament but was two strokes behind UALR and nine off of second-place Middle Tennessee.

Kipp fired a final round of 1-under par 71 and finished in a tie for sixth place. Kipp bounced back from a tough start to birdie four of the last six holes and post the under-par round. She finished at 3-over par for the tournament at 219.

Alexander and Chrismer both had top-15 finishes. Alexander finished tied for 11^th place after a third round of 76 while Chrismer was tied for 13^th place after a 73, which was her best round of the tournament.  Chun was 3-over par for the day with a 75 and finished tied for 24^th overall with a score of 228. Long ended tied for 34^th after a third-round of 78.

North Texas will now wait for a possible berth into the NCAA Regional Tournament, which would be the first in school history.
