Mean Green Sits in Fourth Place After Round 2

MUSCLE SHOALS, Alabama- The North Texas women's golf team finished up round two of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Alabama today shooting a 20 over-par 308. The Mean Green dropped into the fourth spot after starting the day in third, swapping spots with FIU.

Senior Jacey Chun jumped up four places in round two becoming the highest-ranked Mean Green woman in the tournament tied for fifth. Chun shot an identical one over 73 on day two bringing in five birdies and seven even pars. Chun will begin the final round only five strokes off the leader.

Two more North Texas golfers currently sit in the top-20 with Kelsey Kipp and Addison Long at 16th and 17th respectfully. Kipp fell a little in the ranks shooting a five over day two placing her in 16th without scoring higher than an even par on a hole. Long shot a six over-par after four over on day one. Long tallied her lone birdie on hole 17 while scoring a double bogey on hole two and triple bogey on hole 11.

After finishing tied for sixth in the first round freshman McKenzie Ralston had a very rough second day shooting a 16 over-par. Ralston was only four over after the front nine but it wasn't until an eight over-par on hole 13 that things began to go downhill, and after that a double bogey and two bogeys followed. She did manage to sink a birdie on hole 15 but was already down big at 14 over.

Sophomore Chaslyn Chrismer climbed from 47th to 43rd scoring after shooting a round of 80 on the day.

Still leading all teams is No. 44 Denver who did struggle a bit finishing out at five over-par followed by Middle Tennessee at 22-over. North Texas has a nine stroke lead on fifth place Arkansas State and only behind FIU by one.
