DALLAS, Texas – Facing perhaps the toughest field of the season the North Texas women’s golf team is in 12^th place after the first day of the SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational. Seven teams are ranked in the top-50 and three in the top-25 but its unranked Kansas State who sits atop the leaderboard after the first 18 holes of play.

Freshman Georgina Mundy, who is coming off a win two weeks ago at UALR, is the low score after the first round for North Texas. Mundy got off to a quick start with two birdies on her first two holes but couldn’t sustain the moment as she finished with a 6-over par 78 and is tied for 31^st.

McKenzie Ralston and Chaslyn Chrismer both fired scores of 80 on the day and are tied for 41^st place.

Taylor Kilponen was en route to perhaps a career round on the day but was derailed on the back nine. Kilponen started her round on the 10^th hole and was 2-under par through the first eight holes. However the front nine wasn’t the same case and she fired a round of 83.

Brooke Bailey couldn’t find her stroke on the day as she had just one par and shot a 100. North Texas as a team shot a 321 and is just two shots behind No. 23 Notre Dame after 18 holes. The Wildcats hold a one-stroke advantage over No. 4 Oklahoma after the first round.
