Lambright Paces North Texas At Islander Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (2/26/07) While youth will be displayed prominently this spring for the North Texas women’s golf team it was an old veteran who paced the Mean Green at the first day of the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Classic. Senior Tara Lambright shot back-to-back rounds of 75 and is tied for 11th place after the first two rounds.

 

Lambright has a two-round score of 150 and is six shots behind the leader heading into the final round. As a team the Mean Green is tied for 8th place with a two-round score of 619 in the field of 15 teams.

 

The trio of North Texas freshman Janna Golden, Maggie Noel, and Jordan Rose all had their ups and downs in the first day of competition. Rose fired her career-low round in the second round with a 3-over par 75. She is tied for 18th place after the first day with a two-round score of 152.

 

Noel is two-shots behind with a 154 after rebounding from an opening round of 79 to post a second round of 75. Golden had a tough afternoon with an 82 in the first 18 holes and a second round of 85.

 

Senior Christine Shimon, playing in just her second tournament of the season, had a two round score of 165.

 

The final round begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m.
