NT In 16th Place After First Round Of SMU Invite

April 4, 2014

DALLAS, Texas – Facing perhaps the toughest competition of the season, the North Texas women’s golf team opened in 16th place after the first round of the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational. Battling eight teams ranked in the top-50 in the nation, including three top-25 teams, the Mean Green shot an opening round of 321 to trail Nebraska by two strokes and Kansas State by three.

Senior Chaslyn Chrismer leads the Mean Green at 7-over par and she is tied for 41st place. She was just 3-over after 13 holes, but a quadruple bogey on the 14th hole kept Chrismer from moving up.

Eji Kwon and Taylor Kilponen are only one stroke behind at 8-over par 80. Both players are tied for 53rd place.

Laura DeLeonardis is at 10-over par after the first round of play following an 82 while Brooke Bailey is 87th after shooting a first-round of 90.

No. 48 Baylor has a seven shot lead after the first round of play, leading 18th ranked LSU.

The second round begins tomorrow morning and live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
